The Solution

Focusing on 40 slums in Rajahmundry, with your help World Vision will work with the community, local and central government agencies, and other charitable organisations to:

  • Identify current child labourers
  • Negotiate their release with business owners
  • Provide formal and informal education for children who have been released from work
  • Work to increase livelihood opportunities by training parents and groups in self-employment and micro-financing
  • Provide counselling for children and educate them about their rights
  • Provide medical care and education

Your participation in the Uni Famine will make a difference. Raise at least $50 to fight child labour by getting five mates to sponsor you $10 each. It doesn't sound like much, but when you consider many children in India are bonded for debts of about that amount, your money can go a long way.
