General Privacy Statement
World Vision is committed to protecting your privacy. We want to provide a safe and secure experience on the 40 Hour Famine website. The information you provide remains private and is only used for the purposes outlined below. The identity of anyone who contacts us through this website is kept confidential to World Vision of New Zealand. We don't rent, sell or exchange our contact lists.
Your information
This site's registration and donation forms require you to provide us contact information. This information is used to register new Famine participants and groups, process donations, provide receipts, send relevant and timely information about the World Vision 40 Hour Famine, and to get in touch with participants, group organisers and sponsors from time to time.
Updating your personal information
Please contact the Famine team through the website or via 0800 FAMINE (326463) to update your information. This includes updating your online username, password or the email address you have entered into the website.
Communication options
If at any stage you feel that you are receiving communications from us that you would prefer not to receive, please contact us through the website, call us on 0800 FAMINE (326463), or email us at nzfamine@worldvision.org.nz and let us know. We do not wish to send communications to you that you do not want to receive!
Transaction Security
This site uses security encryption wherever your financial details are required. The security we use between your browser and our website is SSL (Secure Sockets Layer). To confirm that your browser supports SSL security, you should see padlock on the top left or right of your browser. This bar may not be visible depending on your settings, or if the window encrypted is a popup.
Credit card donations made on this site are processed in real time using a payment express gateway. For more information about payment express please visit their website.
Any financial information collected from donation forms is used strictly for the transaction specified in the form submitted. Information about the transaction is kept for processing and reasons of website functionality. Your full credit card details will not be stored at any time.
This site will settle all credit card transactions in New Zealand Dollars. This charge will be converted by your bank into your local currency. The rate of the conversion will depend on your bank's policy and exchange rates. The transaction may not immediately appear on your account depending on the amount of time required by your bank to process the transaction.
Online Forum guidelines
The online forum is provided for the enjoyment of the entire Famine community. Its purpose is to allow Faminers around New Zealand to communicate, and for general public to provide encouragement to participants.
When a message is posted it is visible immediately to the person who posted it, but will become visible to the public when it has been checked and released by a World Vision moderator. You can expect any message posted to be live within one working day.
The person posting a message on the boards is responsible for its content. Any views or opinions expressed in a posted message are those of its author and do not necessarily represent those of World Vision.
When posting messages to the forum remember:
- Keep it clean…it's a family show! Don't start messages about offensive or contentious topics. Swearing, adult or offensive content is not acceptable.
- Respect others and their right to privacy. The forum is not an appropriate place to raise concerns or share confidential information about others. If you have concerns about a participant/organiser and their involvement in the 40 Hour Famine please contact the World Vision 40 Hour Famine team directly. Don't post any contact details, including your own.
- No commercial use or self-promotion. Over-posting or spamming of the 40 Hour Famine forum ruins it for others. The forum is for open discussion only, please do not use the forum to advertise any product or service.
World Vision reserves the right to remove or edit any inappropriate or offensive content submitted to the forum. Anyone who deliberately breaches the forum guidelines may have their access to post messages to the forum revoked.
