What kind of Famine can I do?

It’s your choice but make sure its something you’ll find a challenge – the point is to identify with the lives of the children you are helping.

 No Food

No-food Famine: 20, or up to 40, hours living on juice and glucose lollies

Guidelines if your going without food:
High school or 14+ years old – maximum 40 hours (8pm Fri – 12pm Sun)
Intermediate or 11-13 years old – maximum 20 hours (8pm Fri – 4pm Sat)
Primary or 8-10 years old – miss one meal (6pm Fri – 2pm Sat)

  • If you are 14 or younger, please check with your parents or guardians before doing the Famine
  • Don’t eat a lot just before or after the Famine - try something like a couple of Weet-Bix or some toast at first
  • Keep drinking - Just Juice and water are best
  • Replace your usual meals and snacks with a barley sugar
