Every year, 60 of New Zealand's top fundraising schools are awarded a World Vision scholarship and are asked to choose a student representative to attend a week-long Scholarship Conference in Wellington (Senior Scholarship) or Auckland (Intermediate Scholarship).
We offer these scholarships as we believe in investing in the development of our future leaders.
All schools that bank by July 3 will be considered for World Vision Scholarship selection.

World Vision/Sanitarium Senior Scholarship
4th -9th October 2009
In July 09, thirty secondary schools will be awarded a World Vision/Sanitarium Senior Scholarship place. They are asked to choose one Year 12 or 13 student to travel to Wellington for one week in October. It's an opportunity for students to meet inspirational leaders from government and development organisations, meet members of Parliament and learn about international aid and development.
It is also an excellent opportunity to hear what Kiwis can do about poverty and to develop their project management, team building and leadership skills.
This year we've increased the number of scholar's places from 20 to 30.
A highlight of the week is the formal awards dinner where parents and Principals are invited to attend and celebrate the outstanding efforts of the participants and their respective schools.
During the week, students also compete for 5 places on the World Vision/Sanitarium Travelling Scholarship and the winners are announced at the formal dinner. The 5 lucky students will travel overseas on a life-changing experience to witness firsthand World Vision's work abroad.
Check out the 2008 travelling scholars diary to discover about their experiences on the trip.
"The highlight was meeting the other scholars who were all passionate about the same thing. We came from different backgrounds, mindsets and schools but we all care about the same thing. It was an amazing experience to share with all of them." - Wesley Hedder, 17, Hamilton Boys High School, Hamilton
Thanks to Sanitarium Health Food Company, World Vision is able to provide the Senior Scholarship programme.
Intermediate Scholarship Programme
28th September - 2nd October 2009
This is an action-packed week in Auckland, full of fun, sightseeing, team-building, leadership and activities that raise poverty awareness. Scholars participate in interactive learning about global poverty, aid and development issues.
Successful Famine schools with Intermediate age students choose one Year 7 or 8 Famine participant to come to Auckland for an incredible action-packed week during October. This year it could be a student from your school especially because we've increased the number of scholar's paces to 30 and improved the admission criteria to guarantee a wider range of schools a place at the Intermediate Scholarship week.
"I learnt more about the global situation, poverty and aid. I'll be teaching some of the games we did to my friends. This was my first Famine and I plan to do it again next year." - Alex Schuck, 13, Churchill Park School, Auckland
Scholars end up with really great memories that will last a lifetime, whilst being inspired to become a global citizen.
