Set up a challenge
"Raise the Stakes" by getting competative – challenge another school to see who raises the most, or set up an inter-house competition.
Announce your fundraising goals ($___ per person; $___overall goal), along with your plan to reach them.
Organise and promote a fun Famine event that your Famine participants can take part in. Check out tips on organising events.
Publicise
Promote the Famine to the wider community through local media such as radio, local newspapers, local TV.
- Insert advertisements into your school/group notices or newsletters
- Contact your local World Vision Schools Relationship Coordinator to come and speak at assembly.
- Show clips from the Famine promotional video/DVD and promotional PowerPoint presentations from the Famine CD-Rom during assemblies or meetings
- Display the Famine posters provided in your Famine Organiser Pack
- Have prizes for early bankers and those who raise the most money.
- Inform participants of the Famine Star Award that is obtainable if they achieve their goal.
Extra tip: Have a reward, or crazy outcome if participants reach their fundraising goal. e.g. teachers wear school uniforms for a day, a group of students or teachers dye their hair or shave off beards/hair - be creative!
