Who are we helping in 09?
Children like Al Amin, a six-year old boy living in Bangladesh sometimes eats twice a day and other days there is only enough food for one meal. His mother Aman struggles to feed him and his eight month old brother. It doesn't help that the price of food has increased lately. He usually eats rice his mother receives from begging and on rare occasions he may have fish. Such a diet lacks the calories and nutrients a growing active child needs. Malnutrition puts Al Amin at risk. It affects his physical growth and brain development making it difficult for him to reach his full potential. It lowers his immunity so he is more likely to get sick and if he does he may struggle to get better. Al Amin has a dream to become a doctor and take care of his mother.
Al Amin's story is not unique. He is the face of millions of children malnourished and living in desperate poverty in developing countries around the world.
But, there is hope. The 40 Hour Famine is your chance to help give hope to children all over the world. Funds you raise for the 40 Hour Famine will provide food to malnourished children, making it possible for children like Al Amin to reach their full potential and realise their dreams.
