Speak out!

Register

History shows us that every great social movement began with one incontestable truth: somebody did something...somebody stood up and said 'this has to change.'

So here's World Vision's challenge to you: stand up in your classroom, your school assembly, your youth group, your dad's Rotary club, your mum's office or just at your family dinner table, and speak out about poverty and injustice.

Public speaking
Great movements spring forth from inspired words, therefore public speaking is one of the greatest skills an activist can have.

On this page you will find links to great speakers who have changed the world - these will really inspire you! You will also find tips on how to write a compelling speech, how to research for accurate information, and how to deliver your speech.

Your school speech competition
If you write your speech now and practice delivering it in a variety of places, by the time your school speech competition rolls around you will be a pro! We'd love to see all 40 Hour famine participants throughout the country use their school speech competition as a platform to advocate for justice-imagine how much airtime the issue would get if all 120,000 students decided to speak out!
We really want to know how you go on this task so please email us with your feedback (email us the script of your speech) or upload your speech to youtube and send us the link.
