Concepcion Housing Project – Honduras
Famine money went to help families living in poorly built houses in Concepcion, Honduras, which had been letting in bad weather and spreading disease through poor protection from bugs and pests. To improve their health and wellbeing, the Concepcion Housing Project constructed concrete and adobe homes, with ventilated stoves and sanitary outhouses for 324 families.

  New Hope Education

New Hope Education project – Cambodia
Many children growing up in Stung Meanchey, a slum area in Cambodia’s capital city, have to collect recyclable scraps instead of attending school. The New Hope Education Project has been teaching parents about the importance of education, running informal classes and providing stationary, uniforms and school meals. It aims to teach children about their rights through children’s clubs and training teenagers in life and job skills.

Blantyre Urban Project - Malawi (project completed September 2008)

Blantyre Urban Project - Before Blantyre Urban Project - After

In Malawi, large numbers of children from Blantyre have lost one or both parents. Many others are vulnerable because their parents are ill or their family cares for other children or chronically ill people. Some older children are left to care for their siblings without adult support.

The Blantyre Urban Project established and taught committees to provide practical support and care for children like Miranda, who had been left orphaned and vulnerable. In Miranda's case we helped by rebuilding her house. We also supported teenagers with job-skills training so they could care and provide for their families.
